Domestic Violence at Ft. Lewis
Thursday April 22, 2004
KOMO TV in Washington State reported this evening that a Fort Lewis soldier who recently returned from Iraq has turned himself in to authorities saying he had killed his wife.
Part of Fort Lewis' 555th Combat Engineer Group, the soldier had returned home in March. He was deployed to Iraq in April 2003.
Although a restraining order had been filed in April, the couple had apparently reconciled a few days before the murder.
News such as this only reinforces our belief that military couples need and deserve all the help they can get in dealing with the stresses resulting from combat deployment.
