Frederic Auguste and Jeanne-Emilie Bartholdi
Saturday July 31, 2004
The re-opening of Lady Liberty on August 3rd peaked my curiosity about this grand symbol of the United States. I discovered that two women posed for the sculptor of The Statue of Liberty. One model was his wife. Here is more information about the marriage of Frederic Auguste and Jeanne-Emilie Bartholdi. There's information on how to get married at the Statue of Liberty, too!

wow that was a nice marriage
Hey what was the other woman that posed for the Statue Of Liberty, other than his wife?
I’m doing a research project for school and would like to know.
If you knew the names of the first two woman to see the Statue Of Liberty and could tell me their names and what they had to do with this Historical monument, It would be much of help.
Thankyou!

As I wrote on the article about Frederic Auguste and Jeanne-Emilie Bartholdi at http://marriage.about.com/od/celebritymarriages/p/bartholdi.htm , Frederic used his mother, Mme. Anna Maria Augustea Charlotte Beysser Bartholdi, for the face. He used his wife, Jeanne-Emilie, posed for the arms and torso of Lady Liberty.
