FOSTER CARE: A Call to Action produced by ABC News in June, 2006, provides an indepth look at the foster care system in the United States. The program quotes Wade Horn, "the highest ranking federal official in charge of foster care", as saying "the foster care system is a giant mess and should just be blown up."

Foster parenting can be both a challenge and a delight to married couples. There is a tremendous reward to knowing that you have made a positive difference in a child's life.

However, the foster parenting lifestyle can hurt your marriage if you don't have solid communication skills and the ability to deal with stressful situations.

Make sure both of you have a full understanding of how being foster parents will impact your marriage.
