Facing Realities Together

Our hearts go out to those who find their lives so negatively impacted by the horrid force of the wildfires in California.

When we lost most of our belongings in a moving van fire, we still had a roof over our heads, jobs, and family close by. Yet we found ourselves easily irritated, extremely stressed, and very overwhelmed. There must be an enormous amount of stress that evacuated couples and families are experiencing by not knowing what has happened or is happening to their homes and businessess.

We found it important to have daily reality checks and to not argue with seemingly irrational decisions like saving a scorched doll or a broken Christmas ornament.

Here's help on how to be there for one another as you rebuild your lives, how to cope with the devastation you see around you, dealing with the inevitable changes coming your way, and some of the practical aspects of surviving a disaster.
