CPAP Issues? Make Time for Sex!

I just read an article by JoNel Aleccia on how "hoses, masks and whirring noises make CPAP romance a little challenging" and I am concerned.

Apparently some spouses believe that the CPAP machine (a Continuous Positive Airway Pressure device) is a threat to their marriages because their "romantic lives have been derailed by sleep problems -- or their solutions."

Considering that the CPAP is a solution to the possible life-threatening and psychological consequences of extended sleep deprivation, focusing on the CPAP as a threat seems pretty shallow to me.

Can't they have sex before hooking up to the CPAP machine? Haven't these people heard about having love in the afternoon or waking up and enjoying sex with each other? Sex doesn't have to happen just at bedtime!

Sure -- cuddling and snuggling at night with a CPAP machine is probably not going to happen. But they can snuggle and cuddle at other times.

Having kids around makes being sexually intimate at other times of the day more of a challenge. But if they place a high priority on their sexual intimacy, a couple should be able to find or make private time for each other when the CPAP isn't required.
