Pay Attention!

Friday June 12, 2009
Checking in from Mountain Home, Idaho. Highlights of today include more thunderstorms and dozens of little ground squirrels trying to steal our lunch. I sat on the picnic table with my feet on the bench to avoid the little critters. Photo © Bob Stritof

Wyoming is one of several states with traffic signs in work zones that say "Pay Attention or Pay the Price." This applies to marriages, too.

Pay attention to situations such as how your spouse responds to praise, or to being nagged, or when you are obviously listening. If you do, you will gain information that will help you not only know your spouse better, you will have a better understanding of the natural and logical consequences of how you interact with your mate.

I paid attention today when Bob asked me quite a few times how far we had to go to get home. I figured he was asking that question because he was trying to determine how far to drive today so we could be home tomorrow. Tonight at dinner I asked him if I was right. I was. Hopefully, our travel fatigue ends tomorrow!
