News reports about long time married couples like Marshall and Winnie Kuykendall are popular, but many think these marriages are the exception.
A research study done by Stony Brook University and Harvey Mudd College say such relationships are not uncommon.

I can vouch for nearly 60 years married. Death of my husband just a few months prior to our 2011 60 th anniversary cut short our record. I can assure all the younger marrieds that there were times when one or the other of us were nearly ready to call it quits, but determined to make it work.
