This poll is a tad bit unfair, Catholic Engaged Encounter is marriage preparation, while the other programs are designed more for couples already married. In fact, CEE came out of World Wide Marriage Encounter, and many volunteers are involved in both. Catholic Engaged Encounter should be in a marriage prep program category, none the less, at least it was recognized.
Why isn’t Family Life’s Weekend to Remember listed? It is such a large scale and successful program. It is by far the most wonderful wekend my husband and I ever had. Things changed after that weekend and we are planning another. I call it “marriage glue”. That is the one I’d vote for.
Hi Sonia,
During the nomination phase of the Readers’ Choice Awards, that workshop was not nominated. Mark your calendar to remember to nominate it next February!
Take care,
Sheri
Worldwide Marrige Encounter was nominated, not Engaged Encounter. I have been on both weekends. EE is for marriage prep open to all faiths and WWME is for marriage enrichment.
We have attended both CEE and WWME.
If an unmarried couple is in a committed relationship, we would recommend CEE, which would encourage them to take their relationship to a more meaningful level.
CEE seems to be an odd nominee in this category as it is specifically a marriage preparation course. That means it is not even a general relationship course; but rather a course which explores if a marriage is a suitable choice for the couple. This implies that its conclusion could contraindicate marriage. If it is a valid nominee, we would vote for it.
WWME is a special marriage enrichment programme, particularly because of the enduring encouragement it gives couples by establishing a community with which they can journey through monthly sessions. This is different from many other relationship enrichment programmes, which are one-off events.
So for the best “marriage workshop”, our vote goes to WWME..
Congratulations to all five finalists, and thank you for all you do for couples all around the world. Peggy and Doug
