Can You Spot a Devoted Spouse?

By July 4, 2012

One of the ways we spot devoted spouses is not only how they treat their partners but also how they look at their mates. You can often see patience, kindness, and love in their eyes and in their facial expression.

Robin Schoenthaler's article, "Will he hold your purse?" points out how to spot a devoted spouse.

When you're a single woman picturing the guy of your dreams, what matters a heck of lot more than how he handles a kayak is how he handles things when you're sick. And one shining example of this is how a guy deals with your purse."

Another example of a devoted spouse is Cindi Knight. One of the ways she showed how devoted she was to Andy Griffith was shortly after their wedding when Andy was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome and couldn't walk for around eight months. Andy said Cindi was there for him during that difficult time: "I don't know how I could have made it without Cindi. She was by my side."

Do you think people see a devoted couple when they look at the two of you?

Very true article. I dated a guy who was a very tall very muscular guy. By looks he could be quite intimidating.

We met in high school but never dated or hung out together, we lost touch for a few years and then ran into each other at a mutual friend’s house.

Our first date consisted of him inviting me to his family’s dinner at his aunt’s house. Quite eventful but not the type of first date most girls (or myself) would call romantic!

The second date consisted of him coming over to take care of me for a day when I got the flu. Again not an ideal date.

However both showed me how much he really cared for me and years later when I think of those 2 dates I still smile.

Although those were the 2 least romantic dates I’ve ever had, or at least thought so at the time…they set the tone for what amounts to a wonderful marriage with a caring man who is my lover, best friend, and certainly best co-parent ever!

Not to say marriage is easy, it takes work. However when you have a devoted spouse you realize how truly blessed you are to be married to someone who is thoughtful and caring.

And for me that makes marriage to my husband a real treat!
