Don't Rush Just For the Date

By October 10, 2012

Follow me on:

The calendar has a few more of the special iconic dates many couples like for wedding days. An article in SacBee.com reported that "approximately 4,000 brides will marry on 10/11/12 -- a 392% increase over the prior year" and that more than 5,000 couples will tie the knot on 12/12/12.

Did we miss any upcoming lucky dates?

The only problem we see with getting married on one of these dates is rushing to get married and not getting married for the right reasons. Just remember that a lucky date doesn't necessarily mean your marriage will be a fairy tale relationship.

Many of my girlfriends were superticious about their dates and days before they tied the knot, but everything all turned out ok.. I don’t think it matters what date or day you decide to get married, it’s not the number that counts; It’s how much you are committed to your marriage and your vows.

I had a friend get married on 11/11/11, and I don’t know if she was expecting fairies and magic dust to suddenly fall out of the sky, but it really was “just another day!”

My husband and I were engaged for 4 yrs b4 we got married. I found out my father was terminally ill, and I had planned a wedding in approx. 2 months.. My father had about a year to live, so it worked out well, and he was able to walk me down the aisle.

We had an interesting date for our wedding, but seriously, we picked it only b/c we wanted a Saturday, and all of the other Saturdays were busy, so the remaining Saturday on that March day, was St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, 2007. I’m not even Irish but it worked for us, and we’re still going strong.
