Is Mutuality a Shared Value in Your Marriage?

By April 25, 2013

Follow me on:

Mutuality is a marriage buzz word. I first heard the term thirty-nine years ago when we attended a Marriage Encounter Weekend. The word really was a turn off. Later on the WWME weekend, Bob and I finally figured out what the presenting couples were trying to say.

So, what is mutuality?

  • Mutuality is when the two of you don't stomp on one another's hopes and dreams.
  • Mutuality is when you both try to understand each other's goals and fears.
  • Mutuality is when both of you honestly want what is best for one another.
  • Mutuality is when the two of you have a shared vision of your marriage.

When you have mutuality in your marriage, you are more "you and me" focused than "me" focused.
