Join Spouse Program
FAQ

By Sheri & Bob Stritof, About.com

Q. What is the Join Spouse Program?
A. If you and your spouse are both active duty military members, whether in the same branch of the military or in separate branches, and have two years service retainability, you can apply through the Join Spouse Program to be assigned together to a location where you can live in the same residence. In the Army, the joint domicile program is called the Married Army Couples Program.

Q. Are there any guarantees in being assigned together?
A. No. Although the U.S. military services are committed to keeping military couples together if possible, assignments will be first based on the needs of the military.

Q. How do we apply?
A. Each of you have to complete an application (Join Spouse Assignment Intent) and check that your join-spouse intent codes and assignment preferences match.

Q. What if we've just married?
A. You may have to show a certified copy of your marriage license, along with your birth certificates, driver's licenses, and Social Security cards.
