Waiting to Hear From You!

If, in your house, you feel the need to retreat to the 2nd bathroom when you feel "the urge"--you can expect RV travel to retrain your sensitivities and elevate your marriage to a whole new level of awareness! In an RV, there is nowhere to hide those unique environmental sensations surrounding your most necessary body functions and primitive moments! Modesty becomes a memory in your RV, as you realize your body will notify all dwellers of its current task and associated signals. Thin doors and walls, small interiors with weeny ventilation fans assure that your bathroom visit and its associated operations will be announced and envisioned by all! A healthy sense of humor is a must in this area. My husband and I have acquired an entire new RV vocabulary and jargon to joke about this aspect of RV travel. For example, the current bathroom user might shout out "Fans on warp speed, Scotty!"--while the outside person pleads "Beam me up, Scotty!" It's a little discussed aspect of RV travel but one which can provide fresh material for couples who delight in new on-the-road discoveries and find the humor in ALL areas of RV'ing!

We have a 19 foot Roadtrek and have spent five months in it, the longest at a time being almost 3 months in the winter. We "mostly" love it. We travel with two litttle poodles, and both compromise. We have done all but 10 states so far, mostly staying at state, national and corp of engineer parks. We love casinoes and have often stayed there for free with pool and spa privileges, sometimes even electricity. My husband hikes and looks for rocks so I have some alone time and about every 3 weeks I visit a beauty school and get the works so that gives him some alone time and I feel pampered for cheap. We have 5 mile range walkie talkies and and cell phone that is good across the US since we are my sister in laws legal guardians and my 88 year old mother stays in our house. I am always ready to get home but after about a month start thinking about when we are on the road again. Keep trekking!

I just read the story from Bob and Sheri about their RV almost ruining their marriage. It was entertaining to read about their problems from the wife's perspective. We just got back into RVing for the first time in 25 years. Our motorhomes, pick-up campers, and towable trailers never jeopardized our marriage, but, we did have a few "incidents." One, in particular, stands out in my mind. We were living in Delano, CA. (hot summer country), when we decided to take an RV break and head over to Morro Bay State Park to cool off some. Our small business operated 24/7, so I was "up-tight" preparing things for my absence. I was always doing everything in a big hurry in those days. Anyway, we arrived and set up our camp. I fired up the old BBQ grill and put our steaks on. We had our 3 week old daughter in the trailer, so I got back in to "google" at her while my wife made salad. Before going into the trailer, I had tied our Snuffy dog to his chain leash and attached it to the outside door step. Snuffy was a skittish little weiner dog who loved to bark, bark, bark -- and chase after things, people included. Well, a couple passed by on the roadway of the campground, and, of course, Snuffy went into hot action! He took off after them, only to discover that his chain was too short to reach them. As it jerked him back, he then ran underneath the trailer and circled back around the tire and made another run at them. Well . . . in this process, the chain pulled tight -- and, you guessed it, it stretched tightly against the door so that we couldn't open it! We were stuck! The steaks began to burn and smoke! It was ugly! As I remember, it was about 15 minutes before someone else came down the roadway that we could flag down and get them to assist us. What a start to the weekend.
