Where to Get Marriage License: They must be purchased from marriage licence issuers. Jewelery stores or town administrators generally provide this service.

ID Requirement: Canadian citizens must present a valid driver's licence or birth certificate. Non-residents of Canada must present their birth certificate. Immigrants must present both a valid birth certificate and their landed immigrant papers.

Residency Requirement: Do not have to be a resident of Saskatchewan.

Waiting Period: 24 hours.

If Divorced: Divorce documentation must be provided. They will accept the original or a court certified copy of the "Decree Absolute" of Divorce or the original or court certified copy of the "Certificate of Divorce."

Previous Annulment: The original or court certified copy of the "Decree of Annulment" of marriage must be provided. You cannot remarry until 30 days after an annulment is granted.

Widowed: Proof of death is not required. However, you need to know the exact date and place of death of your former spouse.

Fees:$50.

Other Tests: No other tests necessary.

Under 18: Applicants under 18 years of age but over 16 need to have parental or court consent. The consent form must be signed before a Saskatchewan marriage licence issuer, the clergy performing the ceremony or any person authorized to take affidavits. No one under 16 may marry. However, a judge of the Court of Queen's Bench or a judge of the Provincial Court can override this.

Cousin Marriages: Yes.

Proxy Marriages: No.

Same Sex Marriages: Yes.

Witnesses: Two over the age of 18.

Miscellaneous: License is valid for 90 days.
