1. NEW FEATURE
New Year's Resolutions
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Resolutions are so often never kept, and that hurts self image - both individually and as a couple. This week's feature includes some hints on making resolutions that you can keep and that will enhance your marriage.
2. QUOTE OF THE WEEK
from Kelly J. Gilman, posted on the USS Nimitz support board
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHAT HAPPENS TO OTHER PEOPLE! You don't hear about the couple that's been married for 15 years, he get's out, they adjust, and life goes on. BORRING! Wonderful...but not the topic of "Leeza!" :) It is scary, when after being married for a while, your friends start to divorce. Just hold onto each other a little tighter, and keep on going. I've been married for 6 years, and it's been great. Perfect no....but great, YES! You don't know what will happen when he get's out. It will be an adjustment you will make as a family. Think of all the changes you've ALREADY made TOGETHER. This is just another one. Talk, talk, talk...and you will be okay. Look at it as a positive, and exciting thing! (The sound of angels singing in the background) ...... People get divorced for alot of reasons....but there are many more reasons, why they stay together.

3. QUESTIONS FROM THE COMMUNITY
Long Distance Relationships
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Question: I enjoyed reading your article about resolutions for marriages, but what do you do when your Sig Other is a trucker, who cannot get home without deadheading (running empty at his cost) 4-500 miles in & the same going back out? I haven't seen him for 2 mos. now and we're about to break up. Other problems are involved too, but this one is the worst at the moment.
Our Reply: Long distance relationships are difficult. There are no real easy answers. We've known quite a few couples, however, who have dealt with the distance issue in some very creative ways.
We've heard about daily "care" packages (given out once a month), a midway rendezvous now and then, writing a love letter on a daily basis (then either mailed, or emailed, or just saved for when together).
The primary key to success in a LDR is communication. Keeping in touch, sharing feelings and letting one another know that the love, concern, passion, etc. remains strong.
Some couples have shared that being together can often create problems after being apart. Prior to reconnecting, it is super important that expectations be shared - will you go out alot (dining, dancing, shopping, hiking, fishing, whatever...) or will you stay home and snuggle alot - or a bit of both? Some spouses come home to a long list of things that need to be "done" or taken care of. For some that is ok, for others, it is a real problem.
Bottom line is the strong need to communicate. Take care of yourself, ok?
4. CHAT ROOM
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The chat room is open 24 hours, seven days a week. Please feel free to meet with your friends and/or family members there. We'll try to be there on Mondays, from 5 pm to 6 pm (Pacific Time).

PLEASE NOTE: Last night we encountered "server busy" problems and could not access the site! We tried, honest!! Found out the tech folks were making some code changes... sigh!
