And Baby Makes Three - October Edition
Next to Christmas, there is probably no holiday more appealing to children than Halloween. Very early in the month, they begin planning what they will wear on the "big night" and comparing notes with their friends.

Here are some customs the two of you can talk about with your kids:
Trick or Treat: Irish farmers would go from house to house asking for food for their Halloween festivities.

Doughnuts: The roundness is designed to remind the eater of eternity at every bite. The same sense of eternity is also symbolic of the wedding ring.

Jack-o-lantern: Legend has it there was a man named Jack who was too stingy to go to heaven and too clever to go to Hell. His only recourse was to roam the earth, carrying his lighted lantern.

Masks and costumes: Their wearers believed that if they disguised themselves, the evil spirits wouldn't recognize them.

It is important for both of you to be involved in this holiday with your children. Although the kids may love this season, it can be frightening for them, too. With both of you being there, and explaining the significance of this date, it won't be as scary.
