1997 National Marriage Encounter Conference in St. Paul, MN

As we write this article this afternoon, the National Marriage Encounter Conference in St. Paul, Minnesota is winding down.

The theme for this year's conference was Kaleidoscope - New Colors - New Patterns. Couples are celebrating the Marriage Encounter movement's 35th year and National Marriage Encounter's 30th year.

A kaleidoscope of ideas, speakers and entertainers were set to touch married couples' imagination and to show them the beauty in the changing colors and patterns of their lives.

Speakers included: Anthony Campolo, Ph.D. - Professor. author, tv show host, and speaker. He spoke on the theme of hope. Another speaker was Mary Jo Copeland, an expert on beating city hall, who talked about love. Scott Burton, a comedian and cancer survivor, spoke on surviving hardships with humor. Diana Pierce and Dennis Babcock who have recorded Christian music CD's shared their story of faith with their music.

A highlight of the conference was the presentation by Father Gabriel Calvo, the founder of Marriage Encounter.

Additionally, couples attended workshops on topics like Couple Dynamics, Family Life, and Just for the Fun of it! Kids were invited to participate also in programs providing fun for all age groups.
