David Pelletier and Jamie Salé Marriage Profile

Although David and Jamie showed a lot of class when they were caught up in the voting scandal of the 2002 Olympics, David Pelletier and Jamie Salé showed even more class in their wedding plans. Here's information on when they met, their engagement, wedding, and more.

Jamie Sale: Born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on April 21, 1977.

David Pelletier: Born on November 22, 1974 in Sayabec, Quebec, Canada.

When They Met and David's Proposal

Jamie and David began dating in 1999, a year after they started skating together.

David's proposal to Jamie was at their home on Christmas Day, 2004, with their parents as witnesses.

David sent Jamie on a scavenger hunt throughout the house. She found her engagement ring on one of the nutcrackers in their kitchen.

Jamie (age 28) and David (age 31) were married on December 30, 2005 at the Fairmont Banff Springs hotel in Alberta, Canada. They chose the location because it is one of their favorite places in Canada.

Wedding Ceremony:

Thir short wedding ceremony under the arched oak ceiling of Mount Stephan Hall was conducted by a judge. Wedding guests surrounded David and Jamie in a wide semi-circle and held white votive candles during the ceremony.

David and Jamie wrote their own vows. David spoke his vows in English, and Jamie spoke hers in French. They promised to love, comfort, and be patient with one another.

Wedding Attire:

Jamie wore a floor-length ivory silk halter gown designed by her long-time costume designer Jeff Billings. Looking like a winter princess, Jamie wore a borrowed faux-fur hooded coat for outdoor pictures. Wearing a tiara, her hair was in an upswept style.

David wore a classic black suit.

The hotel staff decorated the reception room in a winter theme with snowflake decorations hanging from the chandeliers, a large Christmas tree, and white satin linens on the tables and chairs.

The approximately 115 guests included family members, friends, Jennifer Robinson, Kurt Browning, and Brian Orser.

Guests were treated to a dinner of smoked trout, sushi, maple sugar pie, and wine. The tables were decorated with spider mums, red berries and dendrobium orchid arrangements.

As David and Jamie signed their official wedding documents, a three-piece band played "Come Away With Me" by Nora Jones. The band included a cello, a piano, and a violin. Shania Twain's "From This Moment" was David and Jamie's first dance song.

Residence:

David and Jamie have a home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Occupation:

David and Jamie are professional figure skaters in the Smucker's Stars on Ice tour. They will not compete in the winter Olympics in Turin in 2006.

Jamie and David have one son.

Together, Jamie and David have won many awards, including the World Championship in 2001 and Gold medals at the 2002 Olympics after their second-place finish was found to be the result of vote-rigging.
