By Sheri & Bob Stritof, About.com

There is agreement among marriage and parenting experts that divorce is difficult for children. How difficult a journey they will have in life depends a great deal on how you and your former spouse handle your divorce and life after divorce. Here are some tips from two marriage experts.

Tips from Constance Ahrons:

  • Have a plan.

  • Tell your kids what the plan is and how it will impact their lives.

  • Reassure your chlidren that the divorce is not their fault.

  • If you are experiencing a great deal of anger, get some professional help to deal with your anger.

Tips from Robert Billingham:

  • Even if you don't agree, maintain good communication with your former spouse.

  • Don't interfere with your chldren's relationship with their other parent.

  • Don't ask your children to choose between the two of you.
