The marriage of Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan started with a decision to keep their wedding private as they promised their love for one another. That love has been there for them as they've dealt with the chronic illness that hit Michael so early in their marriage.

Michael J. Fox aka Michael Andrew Fox: June 9, 1961 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

How Tracy and Michael Met:

Tracy and Michael met while working together on Family Ties during the 1985-1986 season. Due to being in relationships with other people, they didn't date one another.

Two years later, in 1987, they were working together again on the movie Bright Lights, Big City, and started dating.

They were engaged during Christmas 1987.

Michael about meeting Tracy again: "The next spring I was casting a movie in New York, and I saw Tracy, who had come in to read for a part. I said, "How's so-and-so?" She said, "We're not together anymore." I was like, "(a) You have the job and (b) let's have lunch." By the time the movie was finished, we were on vacation together -- and less than a year later we were married."

Michael about their wedding: "... it was a great wedding, a tremendous success ... we paid for our privacy in the coin of bad press ... It was a price well worth paying because it enabled us in a single moment not only to join together in the ritual of marriage, but to draw a line and create a space apart for ourselves. A place of our very own that, unbeknownst to us then, would help us to weather a much more serious storm ahead."
