Aaron Chwatt aka Red Buttons: February 5, 1919 in Manhattan, New York.
Alicia Prats Pagan: abt. 2/19/1927. Alicia grew up in East Harlem, New York.
Red: After a long illness, Red Buttons died at age 87 on July 13, 2006 in his Century City home in California. Red died of vascular disease.
Although the funeral for Red was private, the Los Angeles Times reports that "The family asks that any donations be made to Westside German Shepherd Rescue of Los Angeles, 2721 Wigtown Road, Los Angeles, CA 90064."

- Amy Buttons: Born February 10, 1966 at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Amy married Sean Morgress in the summer of 1999.
- Adam Daniel Buttons: Born May 6, 1970 in Los Angeles, California. As a child, he appeared on stage with Red.
Alicia's former marriage to ? Pagan ended in divorce.
Red had two previous marriages.
- Roxanne Arlen: Red and Roxanne met while Red was working in burlesque. Married in 1940. Some sources state 1947 for Red's first marriage, but his draft registration card in 1943 lists him as being married.
Roxanne was a stripper and an actress. The marriage was annulled after two years.
She later married Tom Rodd in 1954, and Bill Shaffer in 1969. Roxanne died on February 22, 1989 in London, England.
- Helayne McNorton: Red and Helayne married on December 8, 1949. They announced their separation on November 24, 1961. Red sued for a legal separation in March 1962. Helayne sued for divorce in July 1962. Their marriage ended in divorce on January 9, 1963.
She received an $84,000 settlement over an 11-year period on grounds of extreme cruelty. Claiming she would always love Red, she said she was no longer in love with him.
- According to the Charleston Daily Mail, "She said the 43-year-old comedian's absences caused her to lose weight."
In March 1963 the Reno Evening Gazette, reported that Helayne changed her name to Xavary Tiassa Blythe.
Red: Award winning actor and comedian in both movies and on television, composer, and author. He was drafted by the Army on August 24, 1943, served in its entertainment unit, and was discharged in 1946.
Red gave much to charitable causes and won many honors throughout his life including "the City of Hope Spirit of Life award, The Golden Boot Award, and the Junior Achievement Award for his charitable contributions for all causes. The Israel Cancer Research Fund gives an annual fellowship in Reds name and he was the 1987 "Man of the Year" honoree of the New York Friars Club.
In 1996, Red became the third recipient of the Promethean Gold Medal for his work with Daytop Village."
