3/7/07: NASA terminated their relationship with Lisa Nowak making her dismissal from the astronaut program effective 3/8/07. Lisa is still a captain in the US Navy, just not on loan to NASA now.
3/2/07: Lisa Nowak was formally charged. Although the charge of attempted murder was dropped against Lisa Nowak by Florida prosecutors, the remaining charges could put her in prison for life.

Although Lisa spoke of Richard's support in a September 2006 interview with Ladies Home Journal, she and Richard separated in January 2007.

Richard: Space communications contractor. He worked as a flight controller in Mission Control for the International Space Station.

Lisa and Richard had a home in Houston, Texas.It is not known if her husband, Richard, was aware of her affection for Navy Cmdr. William Oefelein. Cmdr. Oefelein and Nowak were reportedly in a romantic relationship since 2004.
Lisa was arrested on February 5, 2007 in Orlando, Florida. Charges filed against her included attempted kidnapping, attempted vehicle burglary with battery, destruction of evidence, battery, and attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
The reason she apparently confronted U.S. Air Force Captain Colleen Shipman was Shipman's relationship with astronaut Navy Cmdr. William Oefelein.
Oefelein is divorced from Michaella Davis and is the father of two children.
