If you've just set a date for your wedding, this is an exciting time for the two of you! Don't let the marriage laws of the Turks & Caicos Islands put a dent in your wedding plans.

Here's what you need to know and what documents to bring with you before you apply for a Turks & Caicos Islands marriage license.

Congratulations and much happiness as you begin your lifetime journey together!

Where to Apply:

Chief Secretary's office either in Providenciales or Grand Turk. Look for the office of the Registrar General for Special Licenses.

ID Requirements:

Passport, birth certificate, proof of single status. You also need to present a letter that states both of your occupations, marital status, ages at your last birthdays, present addresses, and the full names of your fathers.

The required documents must be in English and original. If documents need to be translated into English, they need to be notarized by your consulate. Bring photocopies of all the original documents you are showing when you apply for your marriage license.

Residency Requirement:

Because the processing of the marriage license takes from 2-3 days, we recommend that you need to be in the Turks and Caicos Islands at least seventy-two (72) hours before your wedding ceremony.

NOTE: Some websites are stating a 24 hour residency, and some state a 48 hour residency, while others state 72 hours. If you are using a wedding coordinator, verify this requirement before you leave for your wedding!

Waiting Period:

There is no waiting period after you receive your marriage license.

Previous Marriages:

If either of you have been previously married, you will need to present either an original or a notarized copy of your divorce decree with a seal from the Court Clerk.

If widowed, a copy of the death certificate of your previous spouse is needed.

Fees:

$50.00 in U.S. currency.

Tests:

Blood tests are not required to get married in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Minimum Age:

If either of you are under the age of 21, you will need to supply the consent of one or both of your parents or guardian. This can be done in the form of a notarized affidavit. If you are under sixteen years of age, you cannot marry in the Turks and Caicos Islands.

Ceremony:

Ceremonies can be performed on the beach, at a private home or a hotel, or even on a sail boat.

Proxy Marriages:

No.

Same Sex Marriages:

No.

Wedding Certificate:

Your wedding certificate will be mailed to your home address within 2 to 3 weeks after your wedding.
