1. "Barefoot in the Park" (1967)

Barefoot in the Park
The honeymoon is really over for newlyweds Paul (Robert Redford) and Corie (Jane Fonda) when their different views about life begin to irritate one another. She's impulsive, lives for the moment, and wants to have fun. He's sensible, wants his feet on the ground, and is a straight-laced lawyer. Perhaps their sexual passion is why they didn't discover these differences prior to their wedding.

2. "Fools Rush In" (1997)

3. "Apartment for Peggy" (1948)

This uplifting story of a 1940's young married couple, Peggy (Jeanne Crain) and Jason (William Holden), touches on how finances, death and friends impact a marriage. The Taylors are coping with the post-war housing crunch, struggling to finish college, being pregnant, and having meager funds. Although not available for purchase, it is still being shown regularly on television.

4. "The Long, Long Trailer" (1954)

This classic tale of a disastrous decision to purchase a very long trailer by newlyweds Tacy (Lucille Ball) and Nicky (Desi Arnaz) is hilarious. Some lessons to be learned include never try to cook a dinner in a moving trailer and don't collect big rocks.

5. "The Quiet Man" (1952)

Watch this film for it's beautiful cinematography and to see the sparks fly between Sean Thornton (John Wayne) and Mary Kate Kanaher (Maureen O'Hara). Although a toast at their wedding is "May their days be long and full of happiness; may their children be many and full of health; and may they live in peace... and freedom," Mary Kate's need to have her dowry nearly destroys their marriage.

If you think your wedding was a hassle, watch this great comedy about the many weddings of Captain Henri Rochard (Cary Grant) and Lieut. Catherine Gates (Ann Sheridan) and what they have to do in order to be together after they are wed.

7. "Shrek 2" (2004)

True love wins out in this enjoyable tale of Fiona and Shrek meeting Fiona's parents for the first time. The meeting turns into an adventure for the newlyweds with the questionable help of Donkey and Puss in Boots.

8. "She's Having a Baby" (1988)

Newlywed Jake (Kevin Bacon) questions the meaning of marriage and has doubts about parenthood when his wife Kristy (Elizabeth McGovern)becomes pregnant. This is a comedy, so don't take it too seriously. It does show some of the inner turmoil that expecting parents experience as they await the birth of their child.

9. "You, Me and Dupree" (2006)

Although some of the situations that this romantic comedy's main characters (Kate Hudson, Owen Wilson, and Matt Dillon) find themselves in are a bit much, in context of the movie, they aren't too unusual. The lesson to learn from this movie about newlyweds is to not allow a friend to move in with you.

10. "The Cowboy and the Lady" (1938)

This romantic western about an impetuous romance and wedding between tall, down to the earth cowboy Stretch (Gary Cooper) and rich, bored Mary (Merle Oberon) is delightful. In spite of them not knowing much about one another, it's hinted at the end that with the support of family and friends, their marriage will be successful.
