Celebrating 25 years of ministry to engaged couples, Pittsburgh was selected because Engaged Encounter began there a quarter century ago when a small group met in the basement of Saints Cyril and Methodius Church hall.
The keynote speaker on Friday night was Pittsburgh native, Rev. Scott Seethaler, a Capuchin Franciscan priest.
He talked about intimacy through one's spouse. Describing intimacy as "into me see", he mentioned that how to become love takes a life time. However, learning how to make love can take only 3 minutes.
He challenged couples to live a life of 60% - 40%, of giving 60% but expecting back only 40%. Fr. Scott said that being a lover is about intimacy and vulnerability.
He wondered if couples really believe that the bad times will come. How many enter marriage thinking they will be skipped and not have to face difficulties in their marriage?
