2000 National Convention of Catholic Engaged Encounter - - Oct 13th-15th, 2000
Sunday

By Sheri & Bob Stritof, About.com

Sunday morning, the National Executive Team, George and Pat Ziringer and Fr. Peter Horton, of Pennsylvania, spoke about the mission and vision of Engaged Encounter.

They asked couples to not focus on obstacles, but to answer the call to service in this vital ministry. They believe that Engaged Encounter has not reached its peak of growth yet and that there is much to be done.

Some are worried about the integrity of the weekend, and that it needs to be protected. Although that's true, it can be done without being stuck in the past. Fr. Peter stated that "Life is why we tell the story. You are the story we tell. You are the story we celebrate."

The Convention ended with the celebration of Mass. The convention theme of "Rejoice, Reconcile, Renew" was reinforced along with the challenge to see the hidden beauty in one another. Couples were also asked to realize how they love in the way they listen, touch, and speak to one another.
