If you need to postpone your wedding due to a serious illness or death in one of your families, you need to notify all your guests as soon as possible. It is proper to give the reason for the postponement.

Mr. and Mrs. Jason Jones regret that they are recalling the invitations to the marriage of their daughter June to Mr. James Johnson due to the death of Mr. Johnson's father, Joseph Johnson. The wedding will be held privately in the presence of the immediate family.

If you will still have the wedding, but have decided to cancel the wedding reception, you could use this text to notify guests.

Mr. and Mrs. Jason Jones regret that owning to a death in the family they are recalling the invitations to the marriage reception of their daughter June, on Friday, the 3rd day of December, Two Thousand and Four. The marriage ceremony will take place as originally planned.
