Child Support Concerns
Child Support Concerns

By Sheri & Bob Stritof, About.com

A. is concerned that after they marry, her salary could be attached to pay for her future husband's child support.

Question

I live in Chicago, IL and I'm engaged. My fiance automatically had child support withdrawn from his check weekly. He has heard that his ex-wife may be able to take him back to court after we are married and not only receive child support from him, but that she may request to receive child support based on both of our salaries put together.

Is this possible? Is there any way she can go around it and get it done? Do you know of any laws similar to this, but not the same?

Thank you in advance.
