Feeling Invisible
Feeling Invisible

By Sheri & Bob Stritof, About.com

After being diagnosed with cancer, M. feels invisible to her husband and children.

Question

Since being diagosed with cancer, my feelings of isolation at home are deepening. Hubby and I have little in common. We don't share the same political views. He is a TV addict, and I'm not.

When my son came over to dinner tonight I felt invisible, untouchable, and insignificant. They are all trying to skirt the topic of my having cancer, and I can't say I blame them.

Sometimes I wonder why I wasted my precious time with them. Do you think it unreasonable that my daughter won't drive me one day a week to radiation treatment? Do you think it is odd that even though she doesn't work and lives in the same town, she never calls to see how I am doing?
