Why Would a Woman Want to Marry a Guy in Jail?

C. needs to understand the motivation of a woman who decides to marry a guy she doesn't know who is already in jail.

I just don't understand why a friend of mine has decided to marry a guy in jail. She met him through mail correspondence, and they've never been alone together. This guy is serving a life sentence!

Nothing I say to her seems to make a dent in her thick skull. Why is she doing this? How can I make her see that this is a bad decision?
