Birth certificates are required. You will also have to sign a declaration showing no legal impediment to your proposed marriage. They will want proof of your name, age, marital status and nationality.
Previous Marriages:
If you are divorced or widowed, you need to show evidence such as an original death certificate or divorce absolute certificate with the original court seal. They will not accept photocopies. Widows also need to show their marriage certificate. Widowers only have to provide the death certificate.
Fees:
Civil marriages and certificates are £6. The licence is £12. The Registrar's service fee is £10. An additional £10 is charged if the wedding is after 4pm or on a Saturday. If the location requires the presence of a Registrar, the attendance fee is £25.
Under 18:
If you are 16 or 17 years old, you must have the written consent of your parents or legal guardian. Additionally, if your parents live in the Island, they must also give their consent in person.
Miscellaneous:
Certificate for Marriage is valid for ninety days. This is not the same as the Marriage Certificate which is given after the wedding.
