Vaho and Mary Beth Iagorashvili

Vaho and Mary Beth Iagorashvili are one of several married couples to compete for the United States in the 2004 Olympics. They will be participating in the Modern Pentathlon event.

Vaho Iagorashvili was born April 5, 1964 in Tbilisi, Soviet Union.
Mary Beth Larsen was born July 28, 1974 in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

They met while training in Texas in 1998.

August 28, 1999. They spent their honeymoon by competing in world tour events in Las Vegas, Germany, and Australia. They did spend a week together on the Gold Coast of Australia relaing and body surfing.

Vaho, one previous marriage.

Vaho has two children from his previous marriage, Madlena, 13, and Daniel, 10. The children reside in Austin, Texas.

Vaho enjoys cooking, good food, red wine, a good book and a little bit of TV.
Mary Beth's hobbies are reading and watching movies.

For Vaho, 2004 will be his 3rd Olympic appearance. He won the Bronze Medal for the Soviet Union at the 1988 Seoul Olympics.

For Mary Beth, 2004 will be her 2nd Olympic appearance. She placed 4th for the United States at the 2000 Sydney Olympics.

Vaho defected on his second trip to the United States in March, 1992. He became a U.S. citizen in November, 2002.

The Modern Pentathlon event combines air pistol shooting, fencing, swimming, equestrian, and running.
