Why did you start your marriage blog?
I decided to start my marriage blog to share my insight and experiences with other married couples. So many couples give up on their marriages. With all the negative perceptions of marriage in our society divorce appears to be the easy answer, but sadly it is not. I wish to provide couples with a few tools that if implemented will save a marriage in trouble or enhance a marriage that is getting by. After years of research on couples and how they interact I am sure I have something beneficial to share.
What do you cover in your marriage blog?
The information on my blog is about the many issues that married couples face today. I present these issues on the blog and then readers have chance to offer their input, comments, suggestions or personal stories. I will also include personal stories of my own. After dating my wife for 5 years and then being married for 15, we have been through just about every issue there is. We are not experts on marriage by any means but we have learned what does not work. I cover topics like communication, sex, and finances three of the major stumbling blocks for most married couples. I present these rather complicated issues in an easy to understand format. For example when it comes to communication we all know how men and women tend to speak different languages. I examine some of the barriers to communication and how to overcome them. Again the main focus of the blog is to give married couples a few easy to use tools that will help them avoid the courtroom. Most of the information presented in the blog is from my book with the same title, Casting out the Spirit of Divorce. Couples are meant to stay married and I do my best to help that become a reality for those willing to make a few changes.
Advice
- Start with your friends and family of course. The best way to attract people is still word of mouth. Word of mouth is a faster process now with texting, emailing, FB, and twitter. These social sites are great ways to inform your closest associates about your blog.
