The Seven Year Itch (married eight years and counting)

What is the name of your marriage blog?

The Seven Year Itch

What is the URL of your marriage blog?

http://weddedblisster.blogspot.com/

How long has your marriage blog been online?

One Month as of February 2011.

How long have you been married?

Eight years and counting as of February 2011.

Why did you start your marriage blog?

I blog about the real side of being married, and everything that comes with it.

I write at least four times a week.

My mission is to reach as many women who want to know that they are not alone in thinking that sometimes life sucks.

I've been there. Hopefully, they'll get a laugh from time to time reading about my trials and tribulations and we can bond. There's nothing better than knowing that you're not alone.

I wish that I'd had something like this to read -- that someone really wrote the truth when I was first married.

What do you cover in your marriage blog?

I blog about the real side of being married, and everything that comes with it. Our children, our in-laws, our finances, our disagreements and our sex life (or lack of it). We have overcome a lot -- cancer, almost loosing our home and much more -- but we are still together. We are still in love. I write because marriage isn't easy -- it isn't meant to be. You have to work at it every day -- but we laugh together every day. And there isn't a day that I wouldn't rather be with my husband than without him.

This is our story.

I'm not afraid to talk about anything or answer any questions. I'm open and honest. It's personal but relevant to any couple -- and I always like to hear from other women out there and include them.

Advice

  • It's important to read other blogs -- follow them and become a fan. Make sure your blog is "searchable." It takes time to build a following. Advertising on your blog is a personal decision. Be patient, be poignant, be personal, be prompt. Replay to all emails.
