Why did you start your marriage blog?
I wanted to share my experiences of being married! The first 365 days of a marriage are certainly not a cakewalk and I want couples to know that it's okay, they aren't alone in feeling disillusioned, scared or angry about expectations falling far short of reality.
Secondly, marriage takes a lot of effort and adjustments, something many of us simply tend to ignore. I want my blog to be an eye opener for newly-weds and the old timers!
What do you cover in your marriage blog?
I have just started writing very specifically about marriage in my general blog on cultural studies. Marriage and Relationships will now be an essential feature of my blog, particularly from an Indian point of view.
Advice
- It's personal - so keep it personal. Don't use fake names or fake incidents to weave a story. Readers will spot a false story!
- Keep it entertaining -- you are writing a blog on marriage and about your personal story being married -- it's not a tragedy show full of fights, tears and melodrama.
- Use lots of pictures, cartoons and videos where ever relevant.
- Make sure you give objective examples of situations. Talk specifically about finance, health, privacy, commitment, children, parents in law, career and emotions and how you have dealt with these issues in your marriage.
- Give a mail id and profile introduction!
