Why buy a cow when you can get free milk

As a young woman, I was warned against living with my man before marriage -- "Why buy a cow when you can get free milk?" But I didn't see it that way and neither did he. Not only did we marry, we've been together 35 years and it's been great. A good sexual relationship is part of marriage, but it's not the only reason to get married. Maybe he wanted the milk, but he also wanted the whole cow!
