Disappearing Act

He knew how much I hate when he didn't answer his phone. So for the whole day he didn't answer or return my calls. He came to the house about seven, I began to chew him out. He said I don't have time for this ... I'm getting ready to leave. He walk to the door and and turn around and said I forgot something. I was so mad. He dropped to his knees and said will you marry me. I burst out in tears and said Yes. He later told me he did it that way because I was too nosy. We got married six months later. It will be ten years on Feb 16th. Love you boo forever.

Langley Beach in the Sand

Took a ferry boat to Whidbey Island. On the way across picked up brochure with picture of statute of boy and dog overlooking beach. Drove up to Oak Harbor. Place half of brochure on her window. Other half at Auto parts store. Where she was directed to go. She would pick up next clue. Then I drove to Langley. Where her next clue was at the statue, over looking beach. Where I wrote 'Marry Me in the sand. Then she was off to coffee shop. We met there a year earlier over the internet. Then I sent her to several stores. It was a little treasure hunt. Big surprises at the end. She was upstairs at the Bistro in Langley. Overlooking the beach, I yelled up to her from the street below. Marry me Susan. She said yes yes yes. That was ten years ago this June.

7 Years Coming

Leading to the day of the marriage proposal, I planned out 5 consecutive weekend road trips to different parts of the west coast. Each weekend I staged something unique and made it appear that I would pop that question to her - but I wouldn't. On our trip to Big Sur, CA - I had a private picnic set up on the sand along the beach. In Sedona, I had chocolates and rose petals scattered over the villa we stayed over at. In Vegas, I had assigned a helicopter ride to see the Grand Canyon and constantly made the point that I wanted to spend my entire life with her. In Monterey/Carmel, I did another picnic and another dressing of the hotel room. Each time, my wife thought that I would propose to her seeing that it was uncharacteristic of me to go through all this trouble. But I never did; she was saddened and outraged all at once. It wasn't until our 5th road trip to Santa Barbara. I had 3 barrels of rose petals scattered to ask her that question. See my video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GE1u_lwV2ng

Hello Kitty and Rings.

Our first Valentine's day as a couple, he'd gotten me a Hello Kitty doll set of a tomcat and Hello Kitty sleeping hand in hand. He had no idea of what to get me for Valentine's day considering we'd only been dating a little over a month and so had settled on what his friends had told him to get. Though we laughed about it, since then for every Valentine's day after that, for the next eight years, it became a tradition for him to get me a new set (some of which he'd stitched seperate dolls together to make them hold hands and become a set). On our tenth Valentine's day together, the set he'd given to me was a couple getting married and tied to their connected hands was a ring. I was speechless while he untied the ring and got down on his knee in front of me and proposed. When I had said yes, there was applause and whooping, which was from my family that he'd asked to inconspicuously gather at the restaurant he had taken me out to on our first date. It was an amazing moment.

So Cheesy

We were out to dinner, and he just pulled out a ring and made a speech about how much he loves me and how he couldn't imagine life without me, and then asked the question. I was in complete shock, totally unexpected but the best thing that ever happened.

Caveman Style

My spouse proposed to me in a caveman style. He said, 'Look woman, my filling in my tooth fell out. I need your benefits, so I guess it is time to make you my wifey.' I was hooked. I felt so special. Couldn't resist that proposal. It was Yes.

Hot Air Balloon

I threatened to jump out of a hot air balloon if she didn't marry me.

Knots in My Stomach

She found out I had planned to propose once I had graduated. She shot those plans down and told me to do it now. She is in the bathroom while I'm frantic to find out how to do this right on the spot.

We Fit Like Two Pieces of a Puzzle

My proposal was written on the last two pieces of a puzzle. I had taken the pieces out in advance, scanned them and added "Will you marry me" in Photoshop. I printed it out and glued it on top of the actual pieces, then hid them. When we finally finished the puzzle, I crawled underneath the table to look for the "missing pieces". I pulled them out of my pocket, said "found them!" and slid out on one knee, offering her the pieces. She read them and burst into tears ... we got married 9 months later -- in a puzzle themed wedding. That was nearly two years ago.

Indy 500/Corvette Proposal on the Bricks

I can't fit my whole story in this section so check out the video of my proposal. I actually just proposed on May 29, 2010: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z0QuuWjRdmk I incorporated her loves for cars and racing into my proposal. I had to pull a lot of strings for it, but it was awesome to see her reaction and complete shock. I even got her favorite driver, Tony Kanaan, to congratulate us in the video. Be sure to check it out! Thanks

3 Week Relationship

Well I just met this girl and its only been 3 weeks and I already proposed to her. Do you think that is to soon? Editor's response: For me, that would be too soon. What is important is how the two of you think and feel about it. A question for you though -- why the rush?

Wedding Proposal Ideas

It is so difficult for the guy to find the right way to pop the question. I remember that it took me a week before I plucked up the courage. It was New Years Eve and I just said it over the noise of fireworks ... wow and she said yes!

Marriage Proposal

I was sitting on the living room floor eating dinner when my husband, who was sitting on the couch, handed me a closed ring box and said "will you wear this"? Memorable, but not in a good way!

I Like U!

I reconnected with her after 15 years on Facebook. After we exchanged numbers she agreed to go out with me for dinner. After our meal I told her I liked her. Her response was very welcoming. So I continued with I think I like you, love you. And she smiled and replied I like U too. So I went a step further and said this time next year we are going to be married. She really smiled a great big smile. So I took it to the last stage and asked her "Will you marry me?' She didn't respond. I thought I had blown it. After a brief awkward moment of silence I told her "You are the one for me and I need you in my life. WIll U marry me?" And she smiled back and said of course. So we are getting married July 30th 2010. At age 58 I am in love for the 1st time in my life to my friend Elaine.
