At what age did ancient Egyptians marry?

By , About.com Guide

Question: At what age did ancient Egyptians marry?
Answer: Most girls married young, between twelve and fourteen. However, their husbands tended to be older, in their twenties. Marriage had no legal or religious constraints. It was more of a private agreement to cohabit. The wedding probably was just a feast with close friends and family members present.
