Robin: "I brought all this up when I met Sean with Erin, officially, and we had dinner. He was really vulnerable that day, only spoke when it was necessary. A different lad back then ... I said, 'You know, I met you before,' and he said, 'I know.' "oh, you do?' He said, 'Yeah, I remember what you were wearing.' And he desribed everything, the colour dress I had on, and that it had flowers, right down to my ear-rings and the ring on my finger. I know, it's like one of those spiritual stories ..."

"I just felt like I needed to dive in," says Wright, whose nickname for Penn ("the Loving Nightmare") hints at the couple's roller-coaster relationship. We're too far from L.A. for the paparazzi to travel to. But they'll still make up any story. We bought a house that's across from the police and fire stations, and a tabloid reported that we chose that house for extra security. Our town is so tiny that half the houses are across from the police station!"

How'd they do it? ... Sean hops onstage at Vedder's show and dedicates a song to Robin. The next day she stops the divorce. So music really is the food of love."
