We can bounce ideas off one another, vent about the business and know that what we say won't be shared with anyone else, and we like spending our work days with each other.
What Are the Downsides of Working Together?
There are some construction jobs that require giving up our days off, and if the business has a downturn, our household budget is in jeopardy. We also find that when we are irritated with one another over something at work that we need to deal with it privately at work, and if we're irritated with one another about something personal, that needs to be dealt with at home.
Advice
- Agree on which one of you is responsible for what aspects of the business and then take a hands off attitude to what the other is doing.
- Be tolerant of business calls at home now and then.
- Don't take any marriage issues to the work site.
